Olivehurst Meth House Busted

OLIVEHURST, Calif. (CBS13) -- A month-long investigation into a suspected meth house led to the arrest of several people Wednesday morning.

Frank Ernest Weger, 48, was arrested as the alleged ring leader of the methamphetamine cooking operation after investigators smelled chemicals wafting from the Hickory Lane home at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Authorities also arrested 32-year-old Robert Wade Hopkins, 33-year-old Amy Ann Hopkins and 47-year-old Alisa Lavonn Richey.

Weger is accused of running operation to sell the meth and use some of it himself. The home contained so many dangerous chemicals that state authorities feared an explosion was possible.

"There's always the risk of gases. Someone of them can be quite deadly when chemical are mixed," said Department of Justice spokesperson Michelle Gregory.

Hazmat crews cleared the meth manufacturing equipment out of the home and turned it in to investigators as evidence.

The suspects are facing numerous drug charges and bail amounts of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
