Old Sacramento Receives New Christmas Tree
OLD SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- Last week's wild winds made a mess of the Old Sacramento Christmas tree, so now the company that provided it is replacing the tree with a new one and decorating it.
The wind damage was so severe that most of the needles were stripped from the first tree.
The company, Carlton Trees, will replace the Christmas tree and redecorate it for free. They're the provider of trees for the Belagio casino in Las Vegas and Union Square in San Francisco. The company says this is the first time in 40 years that it has ever had to replace a tree.
Organizers of events in Old Sacramento say they are relieved to be getting a new tree, and it's happening just in time for the Theatre of Lights productions.
"They (Carlton Trees) take a lot of pride, and they saw the tree was not up to the standard they're known for, so they said they needed to get us the tree that was right for Sacramento," said Chris McSwain, Old Sacramento business manager
It'll take a total of three days to put up the new tree and decorate it.
