UPDATE: Federal Agent Shot In Newark; Condition Not Known
NEWARK (CBS/AP) - An off-duty federal agent has been shot outside a home in Newark, according to authorities.
The shooting happened around 6 a.m. Tuesday at Mayhews Landing Road and Bettencourt St.
"The federal agent had a confrontation where gunshots were exchanged in front of his residence," police Cmdr. Bob Douglas said.
It also was not clear what agency the agent represented.
Douglas said the shooting occurred during a confrontation in a residential neighborhood. He did not have additional details about the shooting, but said it did not appear to have occurred during any type of official enforcement action.
Police have not made any arrests.
