Oakdale Police Searching For Stabbing Suspect
OAKDALE (CBS13) -- Oakdale police officers are searching for a parolee who reportedly stabbed a man during a fight Thursday night.
Officers arrived at a residence in the 300 block of S. 3rd Avenue at about 7:30 p.m. and found a 26-year-old Oakdale resident bleeding profusely from a stab wound to his left forearm, police said.
The victim and his girlfriend said they went to a friend's house and the suspect, later identified as Benjamin Gayton, 29, answered the door and began immediately fighting with the victim. The fight reportedly carried out onto the street, where Gayton punched the victim's girlfriend in the face. A friend of Gayton also joined in the fight, police said.
Gayton eventually stabbed the victim in the driveway of an adjacent house with an unknown object believed to be a pocket knife or kitchen knife and then fled with his friend on foot.
The victim, whose name was withheld for safety reasons, was treated at Oak Valley Hospital and released. He and his girlfriend both identified Gayton from a photo lineup, police said. Gayton was already wanted for a parole violation. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Gayton is described as Hispanic, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 135 pounds, with short, shaved brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a ripped white T-shirt. He has the name "Gayton" tattooed on his right arm. Anyone with information is asked to call the Oakdale Police Department at (209) 847-2231.
