NY Executive Sentenced In Sacramento Payroll Case
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- The chief executive of a New York payroll company has been sentenced to 6 1/2 years in federal prison for stealing $17 million from Sacramento County and another $3 million from two corporate clients.
Albert Cipoletti, who is 62, pleaded guilty last year to one count of wire fraud for diverting payroll taxes that were supposed to go to the Internal Revenue Service between 2005 and 2010. On Friday, he was ordered to pay more than $19 million in restitution as part of his sentence in federal court in Sacramento.
Court records show the money was spent to pay operating expenses for his former company, Long Island-based Ingentra HR Services Inc. The company was not charged.
Its comptroller, Kerry Seaman, previously pleaded guilty and will be sentenced in July.
