Suspected bag of meth found hidden inside loaf of sourdough during search, Placer County deputies say
NORTH AUBURN – Two people were arrested in Placer County after a sheriff's department K9 discovered a bag of meth hidden inside a loaf of bread.
The arrest happened back on Sept. 21 when Placer County Sheriff's Office deputies went to check on a suspicious vehicle that was parked behind a North Auburn grocery store.
Deputies say they noticed signs of drug use, prompting them to deploy K9 Axel to sniff the vehicle out.
Axel then alerted deputies about a suspicious loaf of sourdough.
Indeed, after breaking the bread, deputies say a bag of suspected methamphetamine was found inside. Other indicators of suspected drug sales were also noted in the car.
Both people who were in the car – who deputies allege also showed signs of being under the influence of some sort of stimulant – were arrested. The pair is facing drug charges.
