NorCal Man's Dream Becomes Reality With 'Dangerous Waters' Show

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – What started off as one Sacramentan's dream is now a reality and a fully sponsored reality show.

CBS13's Kristin Marshall caught up with the cast and crew of "Dangerous Waters" as they prepare for their next daring, at-sea adventure.

The crew, led by Steven Moll, will head from Sacramento to Alaska and then hit the water and head across the Bering Sea to Russia.

"It's my dream but it takes a team," said Moll.

Moll, who wanted to retire by his 40th birthday, will be spending his 41st birthday working his dream job.

Moll and the "Dangerous Waters" crew will ride 5 Seadoos from the Alaskan waters through the icy Bering Strait to Russia without any water or air support.

"They are all 215 horse power so we have more than enough horse power," explained Moll.

The crew will carry all their gear in water-proof bags. They'll survive on granola bars and food they catch at sea. They'll fend off hypothermia with special suits but those suits can't protect them from the sea's deadly predators.

"The dry suits keep us dry, no war, we have layers underneath to keeps us warm," said Moll who is more worried about what the sea ice could mean. "There was a ton of sea ice and with sea ice come walrus and with walrus come polar bears. That's my biggest fear right now."

The entire expedition costs about a million dollars and has been fully funded by sponsors. Season Two of "Dangerous Waters" will air sometime next year.

But you can follow their journey as it happens now. Each Seadoo is equipped with a personal GPS that can be tracked on the Dangerous Waters Smartphone app during the trip.
