NorCal Man Clearing Snow Arrested For DUI On A Tractor
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE (CBS13) – A Northern California man has been arrested for driving under the influence after he allegedly tried to run down police with a front-end loader.
South Lake Tahoe police arrested Steve Beattie Sunday night after, witnesses say, he knocked down a light pole and traffic sign while using the front-end loader tractor to clear snow near a South Lake Tahoe apartment complex.
When officers arrived, Beattie made an obscene gesture at officers and attempted to ram one of the patrol cars. Beattie narrowly missed hitting the car and drove off.
Eventually Beattie was taken into custody. He admitted using drugs, and told police he hadn't slept for several days while doing snow removal work.
Beattie faces several charges including misdemeanor DUI and a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon upon a police officer.
