No Kobes Allowed: Sacramento Kings Searching For Shoes That Will Be Foundation Of New Floor

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Your shoes could help lay the foundation for the floor of the Sacramento Kings' new home, so long as they aren't tied to Kobe Bryant.

The team is looking for old basketball shoes that will be used to make a special foam that goes underneath the wood floor for cushioning on the court.

Fans can either bring their shoes to Wednesday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans, or they can tweet @SacramentoKings with a reason why their shoes should be included. If that tweet is selected, the Kings RV will stop by their home between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. to pick them up personally.

But this all comes with one important caveat: The team is requesting people not donate any Kobe Bryant shoes, so as not to taint the Golden 1 Center with the stench of the Los Angeles Lakers.
