Nevada Kids Who Were Reported Abducted Now In Protective Custody In Sacramento
ELKO, Nev. (AP) — Two Nevada children were found unharmed in Sacramento, Calif., after an Amber Alert was issued seeking their whereabouts, police said Saturday.
Elko police Capt. Will Lehmann said the mother, Amber Schenck, voluntarily surrendered the children after relatives told her that an Amber Alert had been issued for their return.
"The children were fine and they are in a children's home in Sacramento," Lehmann said.
The Amber Alert for 9-year-old Lillyanna Ramires and her 3-year-old brother, Martin Angel Rosales, was canceled Saturday.
Lehmann said the boy was already with Schenck on Wednesday when she was allowed visitation with the older girl, who was under the care of Nevada's child and family services. The state had not yet requested custody of the boy, he said.
Lehmann said the children were apparently taken by Schenck and Martin Cisneras Rosales.
Authorities said Rosales, who is also known as Martin Cisneros, has a history of violence, leading to fear that the children were in danger.
Schenck was not arrested in California but charges were likely, Lehmann said.
He said Rosales was not with Schenck when she surrendered the children and his whereabouts was not immediately known.
