Neighbors Rescue Man Pinned By Own Car

LODI, Calif. (CBS13) – Neighbors helped save a man who was nearly crushed between his car and a curb while trying to repair his vehicle.

Scott Stowers and Daniel Moos said they rushed outside after hearing what sounded like someone screaming for their life at about midnight Monday. "Bloody murder, pretty much," Stowers said.

The two men found another man who was trapped underneath his two-door Oldsmobile, with his head pinned between the front wheel and the curb.

"Never seen anything like that," Moos said. "It was crazy, he was pinned, just pinned."

The two men couldn't push the car off of the victim, but after standing side-by-side at the front of the car, they were able to lift enough of the weight of the vehicle to allow the trapped man to inch his way out.

The victim told his rescuers he had gone underneath his vehicle to try and repair a problem after his car died. When he managed to restart the car, he accidentally left the vehicle in drive.

Stowers and Moos said they had to stop the man from crawling underneath his car a second time until they made sure the vehicle was in park.
