Sacramento Shows NBA The Money, Now Waits For Decision

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Local businesses are showing the NBA that Sacramento means business when it comes to the Kings by showing them the money.

A meeting between seven NBA representatives and 30 local businesses took place at the Golden One Credit Union where those businesses actually made deposits toward their promised $10 million pledges to help support the Kings if they stay in the Capital City.

Immediately after the meeting, Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson held a press conference.

"Today is another historic day in Sacramento.   The NBA, the league has said to Sacramento 'show me the money' and today we're doing just that," said Mayor Johnson. "We're making a down payment on the future of the Sacramento Kings and this being a permanent home for the Kings. That's our commitment."
