Mountain Lion Captured In Folsom Neighborhood

FOLSOM (CBS13) - A mountain lion that was spotted in Folsom on Sunday has been captured.

The animal was captured around 10:20 p.m. Sunday by officials from California Department of Fish and Wildlife and Folsom police officers.

The first reported sighting of the mountain lion happened on Sunday morning, and was made by a resident on Fargo Way, according to a statement from Andrew Bates, a spokesperson for the Folsom Police Department. Another sighting happened at 7 p.m. in the area of Montrose Drive and School Street.

Officers and wildlife officials searched for the big cat for the next few hours before they found it in the backyard of a home.

Wildlife officials reportedly tranquilized the mountain lion and secured it.

During the search, nearby residents were told by phone and helicopter to stay inside.
