Mountain Fire in Siskiyou County now 85% contained
SISKIYOU COUNTY — The Mountain Fire, burning in Siskiyou County, is now 13,440 acres and 85% contained. Full containment is expected Monday.
In total, two structures were destroyed, and 36 remain threated, down from the more than 515 in the path of the wildfire earlier this month, according to Cal Fire.
The cause of the fire. which started Sept. 2, remains under investigation.
The more than 600 residents that had been evacuated were allowed to return home. But evacuations for large animals remains available at the horse barns at Siskiyou Fairgrounds, 250 Sharps Road, Yreka.
