Modesto's First Natural Foods Market Opens Its Doors

MODESTO (CBS13) - Modesto's first natural foods market opened its doors Wednesday morning.

Sunflower Farmers Market had a ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning before letting customers in to its newest store on McHenry Avenue.

The first 200 people in the door got $50 worth of groceries and the first 10,000 customers will get a reusable grocery bag with purchase.

It is be the first big grocer in the area to offer all natural and organic products.

"We are thrilled to be the first to bring affordable, high-quality, healthy groceries to Modesto," said Sunflower CEO Chris Sherrell. He added, "We're very excited to once again bring serious food at silly prices to California, where health-conscious consumers are now looking for the best value, too."

Sunflower Farmers Markets offer produce, all-natural meats and seafood, a deli and bakery and natural living health and wellness products.
