Firefighter Injured In Modesto Warehouse Fire, Officials Say
MODESTO (CBS13) – One firefighter was hospitalized after a fire burned three buildings in Modesto on Sunday, according to the Ceres Fire Department which assisted in the firefight.
The fire department said the fire started at the Wholesome Nut Company on Bunker Avenue near River Road and spread to two other nearby structures.
The fire was upgraded to a five-alarm blaze and Ceres fire officials said most Stanislaus resources were called in to assist.
Officials said the injured firefighter suffered heat exhaustion and has since been released.
The fire has forced the closure of 7th Street and River Road in the area.
Crews with the Denair Fire Department said just after 5 p.m. that they were also assisting the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District and Ceres and Modesto fire departments in battling the blaze.
Ceres fire officials said crews would remain on the scene throughout the night.
It is still unknown what may have caused the incident.
