Modesto Quintuple Murder Suspect Was Father Of One Child Found Dead

MODESTO (CBS13) – The yellow tape from the home where Dr. Amanda Crews lived is now gone, replaced with a makeshift memorial.

"I feel sick over this," a neighbor said.

Neighbors say Crews was one of five females found dead inside Saturday – including three children, ages 6 months to 6 years.

Murder suspect Martin Martinez is in Santa Clara County Jail after police tracked him down in San Jose early Sunday morning.

"We have also determined that there is a past relationship between Martin and one of the victims inside, and one of the children is his," said Heather Graves with the Modesto Police Department.

Depali Thecer lives next door. She says Martinez's mother also stayed here with Crews.

"It's very sad to even think what they went through in their last moments of life," Thecer said.

She says when she would see Martinez at the home, he did not engage with her.

"I was outside I went approached as a neighbor, 'Hi, how are you?' and they gave me cold shoulder. So I always kept my distance," Depali said. "Never did eye contact or smiled or anything."

"What caused him to actually snap?" asked a stranger who drove by.

"It touched me we actually prayed in church about the kids," another stranger said.

A brutal attack that left five women murdered inside a suburban home.

"I wish the family well and I hope they can get through this," a neighbor said.
