Modesto Native Jeremy Renner Earns Golden Globe Nomination
(CBS13) -- Being bad turned out pretty good for Jeremy Renner.
The Modesto native, who scored an Academy Award nomination last year for his leading role in "The Hurt Locker," got the only Golden Globe nomination for the critically acclaimed thriller "The Town," directed by Ben Affleck.
Renner is up for the Best Supporting Actor award for his intense portrayal of a gun-happy Boston-area bank robber who maintained a tense friendship with Affleck's character.
"The Town" is often mentioned as a strong contender for the Hollywood awards season thanks to its studio backing and major star power.
Renner told the Modesto Bee the nomination feels "really fantastic" and said it's a "wonderful feeling to be recognized for something you love to do."
Renner is currently shooting alongside Tom Cruise in the next "Mission Impossible" movie and is slated to begin shooting the superhero movie "The Avengers" early next year.
