Modesto Mayor In Hospital

MODESTO (CBS13) -- Modesto Mayor Jim Ridenour is in the hospital recovering from an infection, according to a statement read prior to the city's regularly scheduled council meeting Tuesday night.

According to the statement, Ridenour, 70, was admitted to an area hospital on Sunday and is responding to treatment. In the statement, read by Councilman Brad Hawn, the family asked for privacy. No other details were immediately available.

After Hawn read the statement, the council and meeting attendees rose for an invocation to offer prayers for Ridenour.

Ridenour was elected in 2003 and is in the final year of his second term.
