Boy Reported Missing Found Unresponsive In Back Of Car

MODESTO (CBS13) -- A 3-year-old Modesto boy who was reported missing was found in the back of a car suffering from the heat but breathing, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the 1200 block of Latimer on a missing child investigation at 2:58 p.m. on Sunday and found the boy about 30 minutes later in the rear passenger floorboard of a vehicle parked in front of the residence. He was unresponsive but was breathing. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Daytime temperatures in Modesto were in the high 90s Sunday.

A deputy checked on the boy Monday and reported that he was improving and talking. It is unknown how long the child had been in the vehicle or how he was able to get inside.

The investigation has been turned over to detectives.
