Missing Hiker Found Dead In Yosemite

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK (CBS13) – Search and rescue teams said the missing hiker who was reported missing on Thursday was found dead in his tent in Yosemite National Park over the weekend.

Gene R. Hall, 69, was last seen by a group of hikers near the Vogelsang High Sierra Camp on Tuesday. Hall had been hiking alone and was reported missing after he failed to return to his vehicle later in the week.

Dozens of search and rescue team members on the ground and helicopter crews scoured the area for Hall and found him inside a tent in an off-trail location near Fletcher Lake at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

The cause of death has not been released, but officials said he appears to have died from natural causes.
