Missing 2-Year-Old Girl, Father Found Dead In El Dorado County
PLACERVILLE, Calif. (CBS13) -- The FBI confirmed Sunday that the bodies of a missing young girl and her father were found in El Dorado County late Saturday.
Mourad "Moni" Samaan, 49, and his 2-year-old daughter, Madeline Samaan-Fay, were found dead in a green Toyota 4Runner by El Dorado County Sheriff's deputies who were searching the father's rural property by helicopter around 8:00 p.m. Saturday.
The two had been missing since they were last scene at a Bel-Air supermarket in Gold River on Sunday, August 7. Samaan had been served on Saturday with a notice that the girl's mother would receive full custody of Madeline, according to the FBI, and he never returned the child to the mother at the appointed time.
All usage of Samaan's cell phone and banking activity stopped completely on Sunday. Madeline was not reported missing until Tuesday, and the FBI issued a statewide AMBER Alert on Friday.
Officials will not release the cause or time of death until the autopsies are completed.
The missing vehicle was found on Samaan's remote property in a dense forest area of El Dorado County. Deputies had not visited the property until the FBI requested the search on Saturday, according to the Sheriff's Department.
