Men Wearing GPS Devices Indicted On Murder Charges
SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — A grand jury has indicted two convicted sex offenders on charges they raped and murdered four women while wearing GPS monitors.
The Orange County district attorney's office said Thursday that 28-year-old Franc Cano and 45-year-old Steven Dean Gordon were indicted on charges of murder with special circumstances and forcible rape.
If convicted, the men face a minimum sentence of life in prison, and they could face the death penalty.
Messages were left for the men's attorneys seeking comment.
Prosecutors say Cano and Gordon worked together to rape and kill four California women while they were wearing GPS devices for prior sex crimes. The monitoring systems helped investigators link the pair to the slayings earlier this year after one woman's body was found at an Anaheim trash sorting plant.
