Mega Millions Jackpot Now Up To $500 Million; Largest In U.S. History
SACRAMENTO (CBS) — With news that no one won Tuesday night's $363 million payout, the Mega Millions jackpot continues to grow. It's now at $500 million, the largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history.
Tuesday's winning numbers were 9, 19, 34, 44, 51 and the Mega number was 24.
In California, nine people matched five of the six winning numbers with the exception of the Mega number. One of those tickets was sold at the AM/PM on Watt Avenue in Sacramento. Each ticket is worth $308,573.
Friday's drawing will take place at 8 p.m. The largest previous Mega Millions jackpot was $390 million in March 2007.
The Mega Millions game is played in 41 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
