McLemore More Efficient In Game Three

(KHTK, Sports 1140) If there's one thing that Ben McLemore has shown through three games in Las Vegas Summer League, it's that he strongly believes in the age old scorer's creed in basketball, "If it feels like leather shoot it!"
After going 8-for-35 in the Kings first two games, the rookie guard went 8-for-14 in game three versus the Raptors. He was also 3-for-6 from behind the arc finishing with 26 points in Sacramento's 71-80 loss to Toronto. He was also 7-for-7 from the line, being more aggressive in getting into the paint and using his athleticism and strength to finish.
Ray McCallum, who some would say has been the most impressive rookie in Kings camp thus far, was praised by his head coach for his style of play. "The thing about Ray is he's an extension of the coach on the floor. Great feel for the game. If he can get a guy like Ben (who's struggling with his jump shot), an easy one to get him to the foul line, that's only going to get (Ben's) game going."
McCallum finished with nine points, three assists and four turnovers in thirty-one minutes.
Getting A Jump
Head Coach Michael Malone spoke to the energy the Kings lacked at the beginning of the game and the disappointment to the cold start in the Vegas heat. "It's impossible to beat your opponent and yourself in the same game. I thought our first half effort was not where it needs to be. We have to play a lot harder," Malone said. "When that jump ball goes up, we want our competitive spirit to be very high. For that not to be the case, I got on them at halftime about that," he added.
