Manteca Teen Arrested For Bringing Gun To Class

MANTECA, Calif. (CBS13) -- Police arrested a teen who allegedly brought a gun and bullets to his high school Wednesday.

The 16-year-old student, whose identity has not been released due to his age, was showing the unloaded semi-automatic handgun to classmates earlier in the day, according to the Manteca Police Department.

Officers said pulled the student out of class and off campus after they received a tip, and found the gun tucked in his waistband when they searched him. A magazine filled with pullets was also found in his pocket, authorities said.

Police said the gun was not stolen, but didn't say why the teen allegedly brought it to school or where he obtained it. There is no indication the teen was threatening anyone and police said he hasn't been arrested in the past.

The student is facing four charges and is being held at juvenile hall.
