Manteca Struck With Another Pet Poisoning

MANTECA (CBS13) --  Another pet in Manteca has been poisoned, and it could have possibly been by anti-freeze.  It's been about two months since the pet attacker last struck, but neighbors fear that he's back and terrorizing a different neighborhood.

Stacy Douglas' black lab, Junebug, is the latest Manteca family pet that has been poisoned.

"We asked the vet what he thought it was, and he goes it's some type of poison, but he can't point to what, where or how," says Stacy.

Stacy fears the same person who threw anti-freeze laced meat wrappers over the fences killing a handful of neighborhood pets is behind the attack.

"That was the first thing that went through my head, and I got sick to my stomach," she says.

Junebug's backyard is about a mile away from the neighborhood where the torture began.

Folks from there formed a neighborhood watch, and now almost everyone on the block keeps their pets inside.

Some residents installed security cameras; others took down their "Beware of Dog" signs to keep the attacker guessing.

Junebug is now on the road to recovery, but the Douglases fear if they hadn't rushed their four-legged friend to the hospital she would have died.

"She's not just a dog, she's part of this family; she is like a kid to us, and we've had her since she was born," Stacy explains.

The Douglas family plans on telling Animal Control so they can keep track of the attacks.  But, authorities still have no idea who is behind the pet poisoning.
