Man Who Broke Woman's Fall From O.co Coliseum Ledge Honored By CHP

WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A ceremony was held in West Sacramento Friday for Donnie Navidad.

Navidad saved a woman who fell from the highest ledge of the O.co Coliseum in 2013 -- a height of about 50 feet.

Donnie Navidad was posing for pictures with a friend after the game when he heard commotion. He told the woman to not jump and when she did, he quickly helped. Navidad, 61, caught the woman mid-fall, knocking both of them to the ground. The woman survived.

Navidad suffered a couple of bad bruises during the incident, and says he still doesn't consider himself a hero.

"I'm glad I did. I'm glad I saved her life because she has a two-year-old daughter," said Navidad.

It's not clear why the woman jumped from the area that was closed to spectators. Navidad believes there's a reason he was in the level below ready to help.
