Man Wanted In Stockton Shootout Arrested

STOCKTON (AP) — Authorities say a suspect wanted in connection with a shootout outside a Stockton elementary school has been arrested.

A spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service says Angelo Estrada was arrested Wednesday by a team of marshals and local police after investigators received a tip that he was staying at different locations in Stockton.

The 20-year-old Estrada has been wanted since Feb. 7 when authorities say he was involved in a gunbattle across the street from El Dorado Elementary School.

Marshals Service spokesman Frank Newsom says multiple shots were fired during the shootout, forcing a lockdown of the elementary school and another nearby school.

One man was wounded, while some of the shots went into an office and damaged a car.

Records show after being booked on assault with a firearm and other charges, Estrada was being held on $1.5 million bail. He is due be arraigned Friday afternoon.
