Man Tazed After Trying To Stab Two Officers

VACAVILLE, Calif. (CBS13) -- A man who allegedly tried to stab two police officers was subdued with a Taser and arrested Friday afternoon, according to authorities.

The Vacaville Police Department said 54-year-old Donald Cunningham approached the officers while wielding two large hunting knives at his home on the 200 block of Luzena Avenue at 5:15 p.m. Friday.

The man's ex-wife had called authorities to report that Cunningham had broken onto her property through a side fence while heavily intoxicated and had told her he wanted the police to kill him.

The responding officers ordered the suspect to drop the knives, and when he continued to advance on them, one of the officers used his Taser to incapacitate him. Cunningham was taken into custody without injury.

Cunningham is facing two charges of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.
