Man Shot In Attack On Oakland Officer

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Oakland police detectives are busy investigating an officer-involved shooting and two unrelated overnight shootings.

An Oakland police spokeswoman says an officer shot a man when he attacked officers with a metal bar as they tried to detain him for urinating in public around 8 p.m. Friday.

It was not known how seriously the suspect was hurt, but police say he is expected to survive.

One of the officers was hurt. She was taken to a hospital, where she was treated and released.

Police have not released the name of the suspect or of the officers involved.

Two other people were wounded in unrelated shootings in Oakland early Saturday. Police say a 21-year-old man was shot around 12:30 a.m., while a 17-year-old boy was wounded a little after 2 a.m. Saturday.

Police say their injuries were not considered to be life threatening.
