Man Shot After Fender Bender In Modesto
MODESTO, Calif. (AP) -- Modesto police are searching for a man suspected of shooting a 20-year-old man who rear-ended his vehicle.
Lt. Rick Armendariz tells the Modesto Bee that the two men began arguing while assessing the damage from the accident, which occurred around 10 p.m. Tuesday. Witnesses told police the suspect pulled a gun from his waistband and pointed it at the victim.
Armendariz says the victim attempted to flee in his car and was pursued by the suspect. The victim then exited the car in a residential area and began running, at which point the suspect reportedly shot him in the back and drove away.
Police found the victim, whose name has not been released, lying in the front yard of a home. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
