Man Killed While Fleeing Accident Near Hwy 50
WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- A man was struck by a vehicle and killed Thursday night while apparently fleeing from officers after causing another car accident a short distance away.
The California Highway Patrol said the suspect's vehicle rolled over on Highway 50 near Harbor Boulevard after colliding with the center divider just before 9:00 p.m.
The driver attempted to flee from officers and jumped over the center divider, fleeing across the eastbound lanes of the highway. A white Toyota was unable to stop and struck the man, causing fatal injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle was also injured in the crash, but his condition is not yet known.
CHP officers say traffic will be severely impacted in both directions while authorities investigate the scene of the accident.
The identity of the deceased man has not been released.
