Man Killed By Truck Loaded With Ice Cream At Calaveras Co. Fairgrounds

SAN ANDREAS (CBS13) – A man has died at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds after he was run over by his own truck loaded with 10,000 pounds of ice cream.

The accident happened on Saturday about 8:40 a.m.  CHP says 73-year-old Sergei Kitchuck was preparing for this week's Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee.  He had parked his 1980 International box truck on a slight incline at the fairgrounds near a parking lot.

Kitchuck had gotten out of the truck and walked away when it began to roll.  When he ran back to the truck, he stumbled in front of it and fell.  The truck then ran him over killing him.

"We had a long-standing relationship with him. He was a great person and a will be missed," said Calaveras County Fairgrounds Assistant Manager Laurie Giannini.

The Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee begins on Thursday, May 19.
