Man Found Stabbed To Death In Front Of Citrus Heights Home
CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) - Citrus Heights police are searching for answers after a man was found stabbed to death late Tuesday evening in front of his home and right next to an elementary school.
Police were called to a home in the 5600 block of Mariposa Avenue just before 11 p.m. where they found the victim in front of a home.
Detectives spent more than 10 hours processing the crime scene with very little information to go on.
"Horrible," neighbor Danielle Swell said. "If it was anywhere it is horrible, but right here it's kind of scary."
Police cars, crime tape and evidence markers sat just feet from Skycrest Elementary School.
"It makes me think that I want bring my daughter home from school and my son," Swell said.
"Right next the a school, that's when you get kids involved. That makes it sadder, you know, because the kids got to see the police and they're wondering what's going on out here," parent Lonnie Scott said.
Citrus Heights police told CBS13 some sort of confrontation happened in the front yard of the home that led to the stabbing. The victim's family found him outside the front door. When cops arrived, he was dead.
"It don't happen a lot here in Citrus Heights," Scott said. "It's a pretty low-key neighborhood. Everyone is peaceful, everyone gets along. Sometime people just go crazy."
"It happens in the world, but it's just kind of reality check when it happens so close to home," Swell said.
The stretch of Mariposa Avenue happens to be a Neighborhood Crime Watch, but all of the neighbors we talked to said they didn't hear anything.
