Man Found Guilty Of '09 Homeless Murder

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- A 37-year-old man has been convicted of first-degree murder in the 2009 fatal stabbing of a homeless man in Sacramento County.

The district attorney's office announced Monday that a jury found James Ray Alden guilty of murder, robbery and a special circumstance of murder committed during a robbery.

Deputy District Attorney Rick Miller says Alden stabbed Richard Seeger in the arm and back on April 9, 2009, while Seeger was walking in Carmichael Park. Alden then stole Seeger's personal belongings and his car, which he was living out of at the time.

Alden is scheduled for sentencing on Feb. 25. He faces a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
