Man Convicted Of 1999 Kennedy High Attack Now Facing Murder Charges

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A man convicted of a brutal 1999 attack at Kennedy High School is now facing murder charges.

Demarcus Mason is back behind bars in connection with the beating of then 16-year-old Christopher Thompson.  Thompson survived the January 1999 attempted robbery and attack.  And Mason was convicted of second degree robbery involving great bodily injury.

However, Thompson died on February 4, 2010.  The Sacramento County Coroner's Office determined that the cause of death was related to the blunt force head injuries sustained during the robbery in 1999.

Earlier this year, the Sacramento Police Department's Homicide Cold Case Unit got an arrest warrant for Demarcus Mason.

On Sunday, with assistance from the Stockton Police Department, officers arrested Demarcus Mason.
