Man convicted of 2nd-degree murder in 2023 Elsinore Drive shooting in Tracy
TRACY — A man was found guilty of second-degree murder in a shooting that happened last year in Tracy, prosecutors said Monday.
Leopolda Coria, 34, of Tracy, faces 40 years to life in prison for the deadly shooting that happened on June 23, 2023, the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office said.
On that day, Coria and another suspect who was a minor engaged in an altercation with the victim, Joseph Valles, who had been walking down Elsinore Drive. Coria shot Valles, who was later pronounced dead at an area hospital, officials said.
With the assistance of U.S. marshals, the Tracy Police Department said officers arrested Coria just more than a year ago on September 29, 2023.
Coria is scheduled to be sentenced on October 18.
