Man Confesses To '07 Homicide

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- A 22-year-old man is under arrest in Sacramento County after reportedly turning himself in to authorities and confessing to a 4-year-old unsolved homicide.

Authorities say Kirk Jared Rivers walked into the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department Monday afternoon and said he was responsible for the May 30, 2007, murder of 39-year old John Pogacar

Sheriff's spokesman Jason Ramos says homicide investigators interviewed Rivers and determined there was sufficient evidence to believe he was telling the truth.

Authorities say Pogacar was found dead inside his home near Rancho Cordova, with stab wounds to his upper body. The murder investigation did not yield any suspects.

Ramos says Rivers is being held without bail in Sacramento County Main Jail on a murder charge. He is expected to be arraigned later this week.
