Man Charged In Drive-By Shooting That Killed Boy
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Prosecutors have filed murder charges against a 26-year-old man in connection with a drive-by shooting that killed a 3-year-old boy.
Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O'Malley says Lawrence Denard was charged Thursday with murder in the shooting death of Carlos Nava.
Carlos was in a stroller with his parents near an Oakland grocery store Monday afternoon when shots were fired from a car.
Police have said the shooting was gang-related, with the apparent targets being two men standing nearby.
Both men were hit by gunfire but have no connection to the boy or his family.
