Man Arrested In El Dorado County For Owing $600,000 In Child Support
EL DORADO COUNTY (CBS13) - A man who reportedly owes $600,000 in back child support was arrested Monday.
Martin Seebach, 58, has the highest arrears balance in El Dorado County, according to a press release from District Attorney Vern Pierson and Child Support Services Director Laura Roth.
Seebach has been charged with felony grand theft against his now adult children and four misdemeanor counts of disobeying a court order to pay monthly amounts toward his child support obligations. He was booked on $200,000 bail.
Seebach was ordered to pay child support for his three children as a result of his divorce filed in Sacramento County in 1993 and the action was transferred to El Dorado County in 1996. The district attorney's office has filed previous criminal complaints against him in 2000 and 2002.
"The arrest of Mr. Seebach will hopefully set an example to others out there who are failing to pay their child support and arrears," the press release said.
