Man Arrested For Weekend Murder

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The shooting death of a man at a Foothill Farms apartment complex during an argument has led to the arrest of a suspect on murder charges.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said 38-year-old Manuel Guzman has been arrested for allegedly gunning down Mario Rodriguez late Sunday night in the suspect's apartment on the 3900 block of Madison Avenue.

Deputies responded to reports of the shooting at about 11:45 p.m., finding Rodriguez dead from a single gunshot wound to his upper body.

Two other men were sought as persons of interest in the incident after a witness spotted them fleeing the scene, but investigators said they were friends of the victim who fled when gunfire erupted and were not responsible for Rodriguez's death.

Guzman is being held on homicide charges without bail at the Sacramento County Main Jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday afternoon.
