Man Arrested For Opening Fire With Assault Rifle
RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. (CBS13) -- Investigators combed a neighborhood for spent rounds Thursday night after a renter allegedly opened fire with an assault rifle inside his home, firing dozens of rounds and drawing a huge response from law enforcement.
Sacramento Sheriff's deputies arrived in force on the 2100 block of Farnsworth Way late Thursday evening after neighbors heard what sounded like an automatic weapon triggering 20 to 30 shots inside a home.
Deputies quickly arrested a man they say showed clear signs of intoxication and recovered an assault rifle from inside the home, but there was no clear indication of what sparked the incident.
Investigators found a number of bullet holes on the inside of the walls and found indications that some rounds punched through the structure and into the surrounding neighborhood, but there are no reports of any injuries.
Neighbors described the suspect as a renter who moved into the neighborhood a few weeks ago.
Authorities have not released the identity of the suspect.
