Man Arrested For Dumping Horse Carcasses In San Joaquin County
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY (CBS13) - A man is behind bars tonight in connection with illegal horse dumping in San Joaquin County.
Detectives arrested 27-year-old Robert Deleon Decker on Friday after a DNA sample from a dead horse matched Decker's DNA.
Decker was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on two counts of illegal disposal of a carcass.
In 2013, at least five dead, and in some cases, mutilated horses were found dumped throughout the San Joaquin Valley.
The disturbing trend began in November, 2012 and since then, spread in the eastern portion of the county near Lodi, Clements and Stockton.
Authorities urge people to properly dispose of livestock remains. There are local companies that offer the service.
