Man Arrested For Assaulting Girl In Walmart

SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (AP) -- San Leandro police have arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl who was shopping with her family.

Police say Carlyle Villazon is accused of attacking the girl at a Walmart store in San Leandro around 7 p.m. Friday.

Police say the girl had left her mother's side to look for her brother, returned crying and said a man had picked her up and touched her inappropriately.

Villazon was arrested after the girl's mother called for help and an 18-year-old man, Malcolm Mason of Oakland, chased the suspect and tackled him.

Villazon is being held on suspicion of lewd acts on a child, aggravated sexual assault on a child and false imprisonment. He is expected to be arraigned Tuesday.
