Man Arrested At Sacramento Airport With Guns Charged In Federal Court
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A Montana man accused of trying to take loaded guns through a Sacramento International Airport checkpoint has been charged in federal court.
Harold Edward Waller, 45, of Circle, Montana was arrested on Thursday afternoon after Transportation Security Administration agents noticed a gun in his carry-on bag. He appeared briefly in court Monday and was scheduled to be be back before a judge this Thursday.
He's charged with carrying a weapon or explosive on an aircraft. The federal law includes an attempt to board an aircraft with a concealed weapon. Waller could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
TSA agents discovered a total of four loaded firearms: a .45 automatic loaded with 12 rounds in the magazine and a round in the chamber, two loaded 25-caliber automatic weapons loaded with six rounds in the magazine, and a 9mm Smith and Wesson, a TSA official told CBS13.
Waller had 192 rounds of ammunition, according to the federal official. Agents also found three knives in Waller's possession.
Waller had a ticket for a US Airways flight to Phoenix. He was taken into custody by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, which found eight additional weapons in his vehicle parked off-site, and booked into the county jail.
