Man Arrested After Reportedly Walking Streets Of North Highlands With Gun
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A man observed walking through streets in North Highlands with a gun on Tuesday morning was arrested on multiple charges, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.
Zachary Lane, 22, was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail and is being held on $195,000 bail.
The incident began shortly after 7:15 a.m. when sheriff's deputies responded to the area of Harrison Street and Myrtle Avenue regarding a man seen walking with a gun in his hand. Upon arriving in the area, deputies received information that the man, described as a white male in his 20s, was seen running through yards of various residences.
One caller stated that a gunshot was heard, although it was not definitively known whether the aforementioned subject had fired the shot.
A perimeter search was conducted for the subject, during which time a deputy located a handgun inside a dumpster near the area where the subject was seen running. At 7:45 a.m., a subject matching the description given by callers, and later identified as Lane, was taken into custody in the 3700 block of Jonko Avenue. Deputies conducted field show-ups with witnesses, who positively identified Lane as the man seen with the gun earlier.
Lane struggled with a female deputy as he was being taken into custody, according to Sgt. Jason Ramos. The deputy fell to the ground before Lane was controlled and put into a patrol car. She sustained minor injuries..
Lane was charged with gross negligent discharge of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of burglary tools, unlawful possession of a firearm and resisting arrest.
