Man Accused Of Killing Girlfriend's Dog, Placing It On Barbecue In Elk Grove
ELK GROVE (CBS13) — A man is accused of killing his girlfriend's dog and placing it on a barbecue grill in what police say may have been motivated by revenge.
Police say once they got to the Elk Grove neighborhood, they had to completely shut it down, and once they made contact with the suspect, the chase was on.
A neighbor on Paulhaus Way in showed CBS13 the damage left behind after police say they chased the suspect through numerous backyards.
Officers were called to the area after getting reports of a man beating a dog.
Investigators say the beagle mix was later found dead on a barbecue grill in the suspect's home.
"This may have happened because of some sort of domestic type situation not knowing if an ex-girlfriend or former girlfriend had recently split or exactly what the relationship was," said Elk Grove Police spokesman Chris Trim.
Officers say Jesse Tom, 29, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries related to the foot chase. He's facing several charges, including resisting arrest and animal abuse.
