Man, 64, Shot And Killed In Home Invasion In Rosemont
ROSEMONT (CBS13) – Deputies are investigating a homicide after a suspected home invasion robbery early Wednesday morning.
This scene is on Goldilocks Way, off of Rosemont Drive, south of Highway 50.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department says a home invasion robbery was reported around 1:45 a.m. A resident was reportedly coming home from a convenience store, and when he entered the front door he was approached by four suspects who rushed in behind him and directed him to get on the ground.
As the suspects continued into the house, they came upon a 64-year-old man who told them to get out. That's when the suspects shot him, deputies say.
The sheriff's department confirms the suspects fired several rounds. It's unknown how many times the victim was hit in the upper torso.
Witnesses tell the sheriff's department the suspects fled in two or three separate vehicles.
"There's no outward indications of why this house would be targeted," said Tony Turnbull with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.
There were five people living at the home, including the man shot.
The suspect description given out is that suspects are all in their 20s, all wearing hoodies, with hoods over their head and all of them were armed.
