Loomis Soldier Killed In Afghanistan
AFGHANISTAN (CBS13) -- A Loomis soldier was killed in Afghanistan on Tuesday.
The Department of Defense reports that Staff Sgt. James M. Christen, 29, was killed in Kunar Province on July 19 when enemy forces attacked his vehicle using an improvised explosive device.
Sgt. Jacob Molina, 27, from Houston, Texas was also killed in the attack.
Molina and Christen were assigned to the 25th Infantry Division in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
This was Staff Sgt. Christen's third deployment overseas. He had already served two tours in Iraq. He enlisted in the U.S. Army June 22, 2000 as an Infantryman.
Christen was a decorated soldier who had received several medals and awards, including the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal (posthumous) and the Army Commendation Medal.
